Luxury
Small Ship
Cruises
Boutique vessels. Intimate voyages. Ports the big ships never reach. This is how the world's most discerning travellers choose to explore the sea.
Why choose small ship?
The intimacy that changes everything
On a ship carrying 3,000 passengers, you queue for dinner, fight for a sun lounger, and arrive at every port alongside thousands of other visitors. On a luxury small ship, your steward knows your name by day two. Your table is always ready. And you anchor inside hidden coves, medieval harbours, and remote island bays that the mega-ships simply cannot reach.
Small ship cruising isn't just a different size of voyage — it's a completely different philosophy of travel. Slower. Deeper. More personal. More memorable.
Why luxury small ship cruises?
01
Near 1:1 crew ratio
Attentive, personal service from staff who learn your preferences, not your cabin number.
02
Hidden ports of call
Access secluded anchorages, old-town quays, and remote islands closed to large-ship traffic.
03
Expert-led discovery
Historians, naturalists, and local guides sail with you — enriching every day at sea and ashore.
04
Refined open dining
Single elegant restaurants with open seating and menus that change with each port of call.
Ships selected for their character
We don't list every small ship afloat. We select only the vessels where the design, service culture, and itinerary philosophy meet our standards — and yours. Each has been sailed by a member of our team.
Not all small ships are created equal. The difference between a 200-guest ship with exceptional service and a similarly-sized vessel with a charter-boat mentality is enormous. We've researched so you don't have to. Our fleet selection considers staff training, cabin quality, itinerary originality, and onboard enrichment programmes.

FAQS
Here are answers to some common questions.
1. What exactly counts as a "small ship" cruise?
Generally, small ship cruises carry fewer than 500 guests — and the most boutique options carry fewer than 200. The key difference isn't just numbers: it's the ratio of space per guest, the style of service, and the types of destinations the ship can access. We define our small ship collection as vessels where the intimate size creates a meaningfully different experience from standard ocean cruising.
2. Is luxury small ship cruising good value compared to a standard cruise?
The headline price is higher — but the all-inclusive nature means the gap is far smaller than it first appears. On a luxury small ship, your drinks, excursions, gratuities, and often flights are included. On a standard cruise, these extras can add £500–£1,500 per person. Many of our guests find the true cost difference is much less than expected, with an experience that's incomparable.
3. Are small ships suitable for older or less mobile travellers?
Many of our guests are in their 60s, 70s, and 80s — and small ships are often a better choice for them than larger vessels. The smaller scale means less walking, no queuing, and staff who can provide genuine personal assistance. Some expedition itineraries (Antarctica, Galápagos) do require reasonable mobility for Zodiac landings. Our specialists will always ask about mobility needs and recommend accordingly.
4. Do small ships experience more motion at sea?
This is a common concern, but modern small ships are designed with stabilisers and hull technology that manage sea motion very effectively. In practice, the biggest difference is that small ships spend less time in open ocean and more time in sheltered waters and fjords. Many guests who suffer on large ships find small ship itineraries considerably more comfortable.
5. Can I fly from the UK and join a small ship cruise elsewhere in the world?
Absolutely — and the majority of our UK guests do exactly this. We offer fly-cruise packages from UK airports (London, Manchester, Edinburgh, and others) to embarkation ports worldwide. Flights are included in many of our packages, or we can arrange them separately. Our team will handle the full journey from your home airport to the gangway.
