Carnival Celebration Key Expansion & New 2027 Cruise Itineraries
Carnival Celebration Key Expansion: New Ships & Itineraries Revealed for 2027

The Caribbean cruise landscape is shifting as Carnival Corporation aggressively scales up its newest private Bahamian destination. Speaking during the company’s second-quarter 2026 earnings call, Carnival Corporation President and CEO Josh Weinstein outlined a robust strategy to maximize the value of its port portfolio, anchoring its growth around major infrastructure investments and distinct itinerary planning.
A massive milestone was reached in early May 2026, with Carnival successfully completing a crucial pier extension at Celebration Key.
According to Weinstein, this upgrade directly boosts the port's operational agility. The extended pier now allows the private destination to host up to four cruise ships simultaneously, welcoming more than 13,000 passengers on a single day.
Inside the Guest Experience at Celebration Key
Designed as a high-octane tropical paradise, Celebration Key is crafted to deliver high-energy guest experiences. The island features:
- Expansive freshwater lagoons
- The world’s largest sandcastle structure
- Thrilling racing water slides
- The world’s largest swim-up bar
"Next year, Celebration Key is expected to welcome 3.5 million visitors while still providing ample capacity for future landside expansion," Weinstein projected, underscoring the massive scale of the destination.
Optimising Fleet Deployments: The "Mix and Match" Strategy
Managing the logistics of a multi-ship port requires tactical deployment. Carnival has already successfully trialled having three ships visit the island on the same day.
While hosting three of the fleet's largest Excel-class vessels simultaneously isn't feasible due to landside capacity limits, Weinstein explained that Carnival’s scheduling teams have the flexibility to mix and match different ship sizes. This strategic scheduling ensures they can consistently maintain high guest counts without overcrowding the island's facilities.
Celebration Key Itineraries: AIDA and Princess Cruises Join the Roster
The destination will soon expand beyond the core Carnival Cruise Line brand. In a move to diversify the port's reach, Weinstein revealed that Germany-based AIDA Cruises has scheduled a milestone call to Celebration Key in 2027.
Additionally, premium line Princess Cruises will integrate the private island into select Caribbean itineraries for the 2027 season.
"When you look at 2027 on an annualized basis for Celebration Key, I think we will have about three and a half million people, which is a pretty good step in the right direction," Weinstein stated.
Looking Ahead: Future Landside Expansion Plans
The current 3.5-million-visitor target is just the foundation. Carnival Corporation is already dropping hints about what the future holds for the latter half of the decade.
The company expects to share formal details regarding further landside developments soon, with Weinstein noting that these upcoming phases will give the cruise giant even greater opportunities to evolve the island experience as they head toward 2030.
